We live in Penicuik which is about 10 miles south of Edinburgh in Scotland.
Last September we visited New York – in fact the USA – for the first time. One of our most cherished memories was the day we spent with our Big Apple Greeter, Lenny. He made us feel so welcome and comfortable with a city we had no experience in. His easy going manner made us feel we were out strolling with a friend as we enjoyed Chinatown, Little Italy, Time Out Market, and walking the Brooklyn Bridge. Wonderful memories.
We are booked to go back to NYC in October, but who knows if that will happen. One thing is very clear — whenever we return we shall request a Greeter again, and will have fun deciding which part of NYC we want to explore next.
We both work as psychiatric nurses in the community. We are both semi-retired, so only work two days a week. At this time we are both still attending work as healthcare is difficult to do from home. We aren’t heroes or anything special, we’re just getting on with what we do.
The picture shows Ann wearing a mask that she made herself. It’s not for work use, but may come in useful for going out locally to get supplies. The apple pattern is a coincidence as the material was bought here in the UK. Another reminder of NYC though.
We wish everyone good health and a safe future.
