NETWORKING AT A SPEAKEASY. SHHHH!
Early in the evening of July 31st, over 70 people gathered at The Speakeasy, a private event space in the offices of Legends. Like any worthwhile speakeasy, the room was cloaked in mystery – the door was unmarked and hidden. Once we were shown the right door, unlike the past, we didn’t have to knock three times or whisper the password “swordfish” to get in.
Board member John Ruzich welcomed everyone and thanked Legends for generously hosting the festivities. Ray Bianco, Managing Director of Marketing for Legends, invited us to visit One World Observatory which Legends operates.
Inside the Speakeasy, black was the dominant color which added to the shadowy speakeasy feel. Sleek and modern black leather sofas, sleek and modern bar stools, sleek and modern party-goers who came to network and to celebrate Big Apple Greeter.
What a fun loving, outgoing, diverse crowd it was! There were real estate agents, magazine executives, hoteliers, social media strategists, board members, Greeters, as well as our friends from Visit Rochester who supplied the remarkable beverages.
With the networking came the nibbling: on veggies and hummus, and artisanal mozzarella cheese from Pecararo Cheese of Brooklyn. There were also remarkable brews – blueberry ale and pale ale – and delicious red, white and rose wines from upstate New York. A drink called bourbon cream felt like velvet on the tongue.
Patrick Condren, Co-Chair of the Big Apple Greeter Board of Directors, gave praise to Big Apple Greeter as “a community of personal Greeters providing an authentic New York experience.”
Gregg Marshall, Sr. VP and Director of Marketing for Visit Rochester, was “delighted to announce we’re creating a network with Delta Airlines to bring people up to Rochester.” His associate, Diana Rapp Keating, continued, “We’ll show you all the sights. We’re the culture capital of Upstate New York!”
As Shakespeare once said, “Speak low when you speak love.” As we Greeters say, “Speakeasy, party hard!”
