Global Greeter Network Meeting
The annual meeting of the Global Greeter Network was held in Paris on September 8th, 9th and 10th. It was our ninth annual meeting, with 36 people and 25 programs attending and it was hosted by Paris Greeters (Parisienne d’un Jour.)These annual meetings are an opportunity for Greeter programs around the world to connect with each other, share best practices, and come up with solutions to common problems. We met on Sunday where old friends greeted each other and new friends were welcomed into the family. On Monday morning we had a keynote speaker, Greg Richards, a British tourism professor who teaches at Tilburg University. During his speech he used research that was sponsored by Big Apple Greeter! We were honored that our research could add to his engaging presentation. On Tuesday we had a memorial for our founder Lynn Brooks who passed away unexpectedly in May. Ironically, that day would have been her birthday. We shared our memories and photographs of her, and we felt her presence and influence throughout our meeting. Then there was the food. Whether we had dinner at Bouillon Racine, 6 rue Racine 75006 Paris, a luxurious Art Nouveau restaurant, or lunch at a local brasserie, Paris kept reminding us why it is considered the gastronomical capital of the world.Equally delicious was the warmth and camaraderie shared by everyone who attended. We are already looking forward to next year in Chicago.
