Big Apple Greeter is a small nonprofit organization with a large, worldwide impact.
Since 1992, our free service has promoted New York City worldwide and helped more than 150,000 visitors discover the City’s ethnically and culturally diverse neighborhoods in all five boroughs, all through the eyes of those who know it best—New Yorkers. When you support Big Apple Greeter, you are supporting the economy, communities, and people of New York City.
In addition, your gift:
Helps promote tourism citywide and encourage both visitors and native New Yorkers to explore some of the lesser-known but no less interesting neighborhoods of the City.
Provides visitors, many of them in New York City for the first time, with a Greeter who will orient them to the city, explain how to use the vast public transit system, share some of their favorite neighborhoods, and leave a positive lasting impression.
Builds bridges between New Yorkers and people around the world by promoting New York City as a friendly, inviting and manageable place to visit.
Creates opportunities for New Yorkers to share their pride in their city by becoming Big Apple Greeter volunteers.
